What should one expect the return to be on $10.000 worth of advertising in the service industry (Plumber, Electrician, Heat and Air)?
Or what should be expected return on $1.00 of advertising?
#1 Paper Ads (Phonebooks, etc)
Versus
#2 Online ads ( Yahoo, google, msn,etc)

Really effective advertising is a fine art – it does not depend on spending alone. You need reputable professionals to create an advertising campaign…

It’s impossible to say without knowing how the ad is written and if it’s even targeting the right customers. Some of the most effective advertising campaigns of all time are run on a shoestring budget, but it hits their target market effectively.
Think about things like the headline, the offer, the deadline for the offer, a guarantee, testimonials, the pictures used, a strong call to action, the actual copy for ad, make sure your using personal pronouns and verbs to tell the customer how they are going to benefit from your service.
Advertising online is a skill that not many possess.
With regards to your 10k you have a number of options.
- Spend it on Google adwords and you will drive a ton of traffic to your site maybe up to 5 visits for every dollar you spend.
- Spend it on an seo consultant who can get your site listed in the major search engines and rank well. Ranking well will drive thousands of visitors to your site every month.
Either way your going to have to get the expertize or hire somebody with them. For that amount of money you will be able to afford a quality expert.
ROI online differs depending on your service or product and how well it converts traffic.
I can’t really advise you on paper ads, but my clients have always found them unproductive.
Thats the point of advertising… you don’t know what to expect! So you have to spent money to see what works. The return depends on the type of business, and it will really depend on how good your ads are. Someone good at writing ads maybe see a 200% roi while a bad advertising may never see a single lead.
