In the morning, keep your drapes/curtains closed. Close all doors to avoid hot air from diffusing into your house. This should minimize the discomfort of the heat.

That sucks. Get a window a/c unit. Also in the morning before its hot open all your windows to cool it down and then like at 10 am or so close them all and also close all of your blinds and then have the fans running. It should help a little bit.

I’d go for a drive if you have a car with A/C. Go to the library! Go to the book store, see a movie, go walk around Target. Soak up the free A/C!

Sleep naked, or very lightly clothed. I’d try not to go to bed with wet hair, that always makes me warmer. Get an ice pack and put it in bed with you, one of the gel ones you can refreeze, might help….

Good luck, I got outta there! :)

(Although tornadoes, earthquakes, hail and thunderstorms have all happened here in the past 2 months… Hmm..)

for the rest of your life, the only thing you can do to stay cool is go swimming and go shopping-because strores have a.c.

sleep in walmart or meijer-they are open 24/7

* Open windows and use portable or ceiling fans instead of operating your air conditioner. Even mild air movement of 1 mph can make you feel three or four degrees cooler. Make sure your ceiling fan is turned for summer — you should feel the air blown downward. If you live in a relatively dry climate, a bowl or tray of ice in front of a box fan can cool you as it evaporates.

* Use a fan with your window air conditioner to spread the cool air through your home.

* Without blocking air flow, shade your outside compressor. Change air filters monthly during the summer.

* Use a programmable thermostat with your air conditioner to adjust the setting at night or when no one is home.

* Don’t place lamps or TVs near your air conditioning thermostat. The heat from these appliances will cause the air conditioner to run longer.

* Consider installing a whole house fan or evaporative cooler (a “swamp cooler”) if appropriate for your climate. Attics trap fierce amounts of heat; a well-placed and -sized whole-house fan pulls air through open windows on the bottom floors and exhausts it through the roof, lowering the inside temperature and reducing energy use by as much as third compared with an air conditioner. Cost is between $200 and $400 if you install it yourself. An evaporative cooler pulls air over pads soaked in cold water and uses a quarter the energy of refrigerated air, but they’re useful only in low-humidity areas. Cost is $200 to $600. (See “Keep cool without pricey AC.”)

* Install white window shades, drapes, or blinds to reflect heat away from the house. Close curtains on south- and west-facing windows during the day.

* Install awnings on south-facing windows. Because of the angle of the sun, trees, a trellis, or a fence will best shade west-facing windows. Apply sun-control or other reflective films on south-facing windows.

Go to a pool, drink cold beverages, go visit a friend who has working air conditioning until you can repair your’s, there are plenty of options. Get a ice pack and put it on your head, stock up on popicles, soak your feet in cold water.

Take a cool bubble bath, wet a washcloth, buy a fan. what you could do is wet yourself and aim a fan at yourself because when you are wet the air seems cooler. Have a air conditioning system put in although i know its expensive hmm im thinking for you??? stay hydrated and just keep downing really cold liquids and buy some popsicles oh they really cool me down, buy a pool with a pump, use the hose.

I would drive around in an air conditioned car, go to the grocery store or go to the movies. Or you could think about how people got along before air-conditioning.

Get a window unit…you may have to stay in that room because it will be the only cool room in your house. My central A/C went out and i got it fixed. Is your A/C not fixable? If its too much to get it fixed get a window unit but be careful as you have to put it in a window and it might attract thieves so place it where it’s hard to see (if possible).

Girl i have been there… I live in Oklahoma so it is not as hot here… but either way it sucks!!! I dont know that there is much you can do! It got so bad one night that i seriously went and slept in my car with the AC on!!! I had to be to work the next day and there was no way i was going to go to sleep in a hot house! The only thing i can suggest is to sleep with a sheet instead of a blaket and maybe naked… Also you might into buying a used “or new” window AC unit… They wont cool off the whole house but you could just stay in the room that has the AC!!! So sorry you are going through this!! Good Luck on getting the AC back!

Drink a TON of ice water, like more ice than water. Keep some bottles of water in the fridge and drink them when they’re cold.
Getting cool on the inside will help you feel cool on the outside.

It’s really not healthy to be in the heat so much, it thins your blood out. But see about getting a window swamp cooler, look at Home Depot or Lowe’s or something and get a smaller one (if you are short on cash), cause they are pretty powerful and work wonders and dont take much electricity. I also live in Southern Cali and am in the high desert in the 105 degree weather. We have a swamp cooler and it cools the whole house. Just leave it on continuously through the day and make sure you turn it on early in the morn so that the house doesnt have a chance to warm up before you turn it on.

Keep your hair wet. It cools down your entire head. Let yourself sweat, it’ll help cool you down as well. And drink a LOT of water!
